FORT WALTON BEACH — Leadership and motivational training expert Barbara Britt is in the running to be named the American Business Women’s Association Woman of the Year.

Britt, who is president of Barbara J. Britt LLC in Fort Walton Beach and a representative of the John C. Maxwell team, will be attending the 2018 National Women’s Leadership Conference Oct. 10-13 in Augusta, Georgia.
As the ABWA Emerald Coast Chapter’s Woman of the Year, Britt will be recognized at the conference as a Top Ten ABWA nominee and potentially ABWA Woman of the Year.

“Barbara Britt Is a dynamo, who not only works constantly to add dimension and depth to her training with John Maxwell, but also contributes to our community through her work with ABWA, the Fort Walton Beach Chamber and Distinguished Young Women of Okaloosa County to name a few,” Lori Erickson Ogles, ABWA Emerald Coast Chapter treasurer, said in a statement. “She has a heart for serving others and I am proud to call her my friend and ABWA sister.”

Britt specializes in international speaking, team training and coaching, and also offers leadership, personal and professional development training for a variety of organizations and individuals, according to a news release.
“I am privileged to work with such amazing women through ABWA,” Britt said in a statement. “It is an honor to work with women who help each other grow and develop into strong community leaders. Starting my own business, with the support from my ABWA Emerald Coast Chapter, has been the highlight of the second-part of my professional career.”

Among other roles, Britt has served as the assistant program director for the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce Youth Entrepreneur Academy, a civilian honorary commander of the 505th Command and Control Wings at Hurlburt Field and chairman of the board for the Emerald Coast Science Center.
