Why The Undo List? So You Can Create An Action Plan.

“The world is full of people who have dreams of playing at Carnegie Hall, of running a marathon, and of owning their own business. The difference between the people who make it across the finish line and everyone else is one simple thing: An Action Plan.” ~John Tesh~
Before the action plan comes into being, you must first enact the Undo List. By utilizing an Undo List and creating an action plan, this can prove to be the most productive start of your year, or your life. Below you will find eight questions to help you eliminate time-consuming activities, and non productive people from your life. A word of caution: you might feel happier, 40 pounds lighter, and have unbelievable energy. Let’s get proactive: you’re worth it.

Before you create an Undo List, you must first go back to your agenda book or calendar and examine how you spend your time. Find out where, when, why, how, and with whom you’re spending your resources (time, money, and energy).

Then ask these questions:
  1. Is it allowing you to build relationships for your business? Make no mistake:
simply handing out your business card does not build a relationship. In fact,
if you’re just talking, spending money, and time handing out cards, then you,
and your business will suffer, and you will be left wondering why.
  2. Is it cost and time effective? Put a price on your productivity. What is your
time worth? More importantly, what are you worth?
  3. Are you developing your leadership skills because of your involvement?
If you’re not growing and being challenged then your creativity and
productivity are stagnant. Invest your time into developing yours and others
strengths, and capabilities. Then your leadership will continue to grow.
When you grow, others will be empowered also.
  4. Are you able to build your community effectively? Where in the community
can you truly make a difference? Community involvement will multiply your
effectiveness, and leadership skills, by increasing your value to others.
  5. Are you able to stay in your values? Remember your values are sometimes
the only thing you have left. Without them you cannot develop into the
person you are meant to be.
  6. Are you making a difference with your staff & clients? Are you developing
them so much that they could leave you for more money, and prestige, but they
stay because they are part of something great?
  7. Are you giving more and more time away, but not receiving anything in
return? You must value yourself before others can see your value.
  8. Are you a part of something bigger than yourself?

Now comes the fun part! Answer the above questions honestly and quickly. If you get a “no” on any question, then your time, energy, and money are not being well spent. It is now time for the White Out Tape, or the Big Eraser. Simply make the decision to eliminate that task from your business, or personal life. You put it in there, you have the authority to take it out.

You are responsible for building your circle of influence. You can actually recreate, build, and actively seek the circumstances and people that will give you the life you want to live. Once you have completed your Undo List, far are ready to get started on your action plan!
